FAQs

What is this place?  A co-op?  Non-profit?
Sacred Art is an independently owned business.  I wanted to create an alternate venue to the gallery.  A place less intimidating, less expensive, and hopefully a little more fun.  I wanted to create the year-round art bazaar and have work priced just so anyone who comes in can walk away with something.

I’m an artist or I know an artist, what are the requirements?
The artist has to be local to Chicagoland and just be starting out, you know not yet established in the art world.  If you or your artist friend has shown at top notch galleries somewhere they are probably not what we are looking for here.  We want people just starting out who need the help.

How do artists get their work in here?
My favorite art submission process is having JPEGS sent to me with pricing and dimensions.  I wish I could take a look at your work when you come in or even make an appointment but the thing is I get so many artists dropping by that I can not rely on my memory and don’t always have time to discuss your work.  When I have a spot to fill, I will look through my computer files and find an appropriate fit.  It really is best for both of us this way.  If you don’t have JPEGS of your work, you might want to consider getting pictures taken because most galleries will require them or slides.

I do have a website and blog, how about I send you a link?
That works too but make sure that the pricing and dimensions are listed because that’s also a variable.

Do you buy the art from me or is it consignment?
Everything in the shop is on consignment.  That way we have the flexibility to exchange the inventory if a certain line or piece isn’t working.

How much money does the shop take?
We have a 50/50 split but the artist gets to price their own work

I emailed you but you are so rude and haven’t responded, what’s up with that?
I try to respond to everyone and apologize if you have fallen through the cracks.  I promise to be in touch if I think your work would be a good fit at the moment.  Otherwise, hold tight because I may be in touch soon.  If not, please don't take it personally because I accept work that I think will sell to my market at the time.  It’s not that you suck as an artist.

Keep being creative and thanks for coming by!
